Tarek El Moussa made a playful joke about his ex-wife, Christina Haack, while filming a video with his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa.
The HGTV star, 43, took to Instagram on Sunday, October 20, to share a video that showed him touching sample flooring in a store. Heather, 37, then pointed out that the flooring Tarek was admiring was from Christina’s collection.
Tarek responded by waving his finger and shaking his head at Heather, and she pointed out a sign that read “In Stock” next to the photo of Christina, 41.
“When you can’t look at flooring without being reminded of your ex,” text on the video read, and Tarek joingly added in the caption, “When the ex is still haunting me.” He made clear that the video was all in good fun by adding two crying-laughing emojis.
In addition to sharing the video about Christina, Tarek revealed via his Instagram Stories that he and Heather were going on an anniversary trip to Mexico on Sunday.
Heather also documented the beginning of the trip on her own Instagram Stories. “Three year wedding anniversary trip begins now,” she captioned a photo of herself holding a chai tea latte on the plane.
Tarek previously married Christina in 2009 and they separated in 2016. The former couple share daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9. Meanwhile, Tarek and Heather tied the knot in 2021 and welcomed their son, Tristan, in January 2023.
While Tarek and Heather’s marriage is going strong, the same can’t be said for Christina. The Christina on the Coast star announced her split from estranged husband Josh Hall in July when he filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. Josh, 44, listed their date of separation as July 8, while Christina listed July 7 as their date of separation in her own filing.
Christina also requested that the court restore her last name back to her maiden name Haack, and People confirmed she was back to using her maiden name in October.
While Christina and Tarek haven’t always gotten along after their split, he revealed that they’re on good terms and shared a rare update about how his ex was doing amid her split from Josh. “She’s doing great,” he told E! News on September 24. “She has the support of her family, she has the kids and she’s working her tail off.”
Christina may be surrounded by a good support system, but her divorce from Josh has had its fair share of drama. On October 3, she announced she was putting her Tennessee property up for sale amid her divorce. “My Tennessee home is officially for sale. Excited for a new venture in business & real estate,” the reality star wrote via Instagram Stories at the time.
She then seemingly shaded Josh, who was living in the home at the time, by adding, “Time to go back to reality … Remember when you said you would never steal from me or my kids and you would just be happy in a van with your dog. I guess plans changed. All about trying to take everything you can … with your mind on my money and my money on your mind … bye.”
