Must read

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have remained close as the actor battles frontotemporal dementia.

Rumer Willis, the couple’s eldest daughter, told People on Thursday, October 17, that her parents still have the “love and support of each other.” Bruce, 69, and Demi, 61, were married from 1987 to 2000, and in addition to Rumer, 36, they welcomed daughters Scout and Tallulah Willis.

“It means so much to me, the way that my mom, and I think to all of my sisters and I, the way that my mom shows up for all of us as we are working with it, as she is working with it, even how she is with my other little sisters,” Rumer added.

Bruce married Emma Heming Willis in 2009, and welcomed daughters Mabel and Evelyn.

“We go over to dinner at Emma’s house with the girls and we’re family. And I think family can look differently in a lot of ways, but it’s just about what it means,” Rumer revealed.

The House Bunny actress said that her blended family is incredibly close and spends as much time together as possible.

“I never had to split a holiday. We never had to split family vacations or Christmases or birthdays. And I think that a lot of the time, it’s just our own ego,” she shared.

Rumer welcomed her daughter, Louetta, with ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas in April 2023. She revealed that she and Derek split in an August Instagram Story, writing, “I am single momming it and coparenting.”

The Trail of Vengeance actress reflected on how her parents set an “unbelievable example” when it comes to coparenting.

“We have found an amazing way to keep our friendship and our loving coparenting relationship,” she said of her current arrangement with Derek. “And I think both of us are so happy that we can have that for ourselves as well as for Lou.”

Family time is precious for the Willis’ amid Bruce’s dementia battle. Demi echoed the sentiment while giving an update on her ex-husband’s health at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival on October 13.

“You know, I’ve said this before. The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is,” she said as she accepted the Career Achievement in Acting Award. “But for where he’s at, he is stable.”

“What I always encourage is to just meet them where they’re at. When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game,” the Substance actress said. “But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness.”

Demi revealed that she visited Bruce two days before making her appearance at the event. She said that Rumer and Louetta, 18 months, were there too and reflected on how important it was for her and her family to be “able to share with whatever we have, for however long we have it.”

In May, Rumer appeared on Today and shared that her father has a sweet bond with Louetta.

“He’s so good. I actually got to see him right before I came out [to New York],” she told Hoda Kotb during the episode. “And Lou is just starting to walk a little bit, and she was walking over to him, and it was so sweet.”
